2 And the Spirit said unto me: Behold, what desirest thou?
3 And I said: I desire to behold the things which my father saw.
5 And I said: Yea, thou knowest that I believe all the words of my father.
6 And when I had spoken these words, the Spirit cried with a loud voice, saying: Hosanna to the Lord, the most high God; for he is God over all the earth, yea, even above all. And blessed art thou, Nephi, because thou believest in the Son of the most high God; wherefore, thou shalt behold the things which thou hast desired.
Why did the angel want Nephi to say what he and the angel already knew? There must be power in saying it.
I see this all through scripture, and in the repentance process, and in the bearing of testimonies. I know the spirit confirms to us what we believe, when we say it.
I don't know why physical actions are needed to progress spiritually (speaking words, eating fruit, being baptized, taking the sacrament) but I'm interested to know why the physical and the spiritual are so connected. (No wonder we are asked to pray vocally.) Today, I will pray vocally.
