11 And the angel said unto me: Look! And I looked, and beheld three generations pass away in righteousness; and their garments were white even like unto the Lamb of God. And the angel said unto me: These are made white in the blood of the Lamb, because of their faith in him.
Their garments were white even like unto the lamb of God
"And the angel said unto me: These are made white in the blood of the lamb, because of their faith in Him."
Does this refer to temple garments?
Why are their garments, something that they wear, made white? And not their souls or hearts made pure? What does this mean?
White must be symbolic due to its comparison - The Lamb of God - spotless, undefiled, without blemish. Perfect.
Why our garments? They cover us - like Jesus' Atonement does. They are God's protection, made in the physical form to protect us physically as well as spiritually.
Isn't it interesting that something can be made white by submerging it in blood? The symbolism here is rich and leaves much to ponder.
And then the words, "because of." I love it whenever a prophet uses those words, because, they clearly show a specific relationship between a consequence and an action.
Their garments were made white in the blood of The Lamb because of their faith in Him.
I can do faith today. I will trust God and trust in the promises that were given to me in the temple, especially those related to my garments. My beautiful, precious garments, which cover me- like He did, in the garden.
I also just wonder why this angel (Jesus?) chose to refer to Jesus Christ so much in this chapter, as the Lamb of God? That title, or name, itself is rich with meaning and symbolism.
It always makes me think of Abraham and Isaac.
They, we've been told in scripture, were in similitude of God and His Son. So, as hard as that was on Issac (symbolic of Jesus), what about the Father who had to lift the knife? And in Heavenly Father's case, let it fall, which act caused indescribable suffering on His beloved Son, who willingly received it all.
That incomparable act, by both of them, was all for us. They have done everything for us. I will do everything I can for them. Repent when I fall short and live in gratitude for their love and care.
I love Them.
