53 And it came to pass that the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thine hand again unto thy brethren, and they shall not wither before thee, but I will shock them, saith the Lord, and this will I do, that they may know that I am the Lord their God.

I've been noticing so many places in the scriptures lately where a hand or arm was "stretched forth".

It is used so much that I don't believe it's a simple description of physical motion. Why would an engraver of plates (or in this case, the Lord, Himself) take the time, space and effort to include that detail, in SO many places, and from several different authors, if it weren't significant and symbolic?

I have given much thought and prayer to knowing the meaning of the phrase. And the more I study, the more I believe it's a symbol of, or act of, God's power.

That would certainly apply in this verse.

I love thinking about God's power.

So comforting.
