I read the footnotes about Moses using his rod to get water out of the rock by the power of God in Exodus and in Numbers. I'm not sure if those 2 accounts are of the same event, or 2 separate events?
Anyway, I read in numbers how Moses did not truly believe, and so chose not to speak to the rock like he was commanded by God, but chose to smite it twice, instead, to get water out.
I also learned (if I learned correctly) that the unbelief is the reason he did not lead the Israelites into the promised land. That just makes me wonder about 2 things: 1.) The human nature of prophets, and 2.) What has God commanded me to do that I don't really believe, and so I'm choosing to do something else instead?
Forgive?
Be humble?
Be more charitable?
Consecrate all I have?
Definitely an important conversation I need to have with God. I will do so today.
(Not judging Moses. Am judging me. Praying daily to see more good in people, including prophets, leaders, and myself.)
So much to learn. And do. And hopefully, eventually, become.
