1 Nephi 4:19

19 And after I had smitten off his head with his own sword, I took the garments of Laban and put them upon mine own body; yea, even every whit; and I did gird on his armor about my loins.

I often wonder if the multiple attempts to get the plates were really tender mercies for Nephi who would have to live with the memory of having to kill a man for the rest of his life.


Along with knowing he was commanded by the Spirit, he also knew he had tried everything else. Had he not exhausted those other efforts, he might have always wondered if Laban would have simply given or sold the plates.


I know God always blesses us as soon and as best as possible. I KNOW this.
