9 And I beheld his sword, and I drew it forth from the sheath thereof; and the hilt thereof was of pure gold, and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine, and I saw that the blade thereof was of the most precious steel.

It's interesting that, knowing what was about to happen, Mormon chooses to focus for a minute on the description of the sword.


As a reader, I appreciate the significance and symbolism of the sword, especially as I watch what is happening in the world today - and know what will yet happen - that God, too, has a sword....the sword of justice.


I'm glad we got these details from Mormon. I know that since he could not include even an hundredth part of the entire record, that EVERY detail that he DID include is significant.
