13 And if it so be that we are faithful to him, we shall obtain the land of promise; and ye shall know at some future period that the word of the Lord shall be fulfilled concerning the destruction of Jerusalem; for all things which the Lord hath spoken concerning the destruction of Jerusalem must be fulfilled.
I love how this verse has so many of what I call "100% words." Words like, "will," "shall" or "all" leave no room for movement. They are, to me, promises.
If we do something, we will receive something. Nephi didn't say "If it so be that we are faithful to him, we "might" obtain the land of promise. Or "we may qualify for," or "God would then consider us for the possible blessing of."
"Shall" is a promise from a prophet - which is a promise from God.
If I believe the scriptures are true, which I do, then I must believe everything they contain, including promises from "100% words", not just the parts that are easy to believe.
Either the scriptures are the word of God, or they are not.
I believe every word of the scriptures, which means I must believe these "shall" promises "shall" apply to me.
For me, I am still focusing on the 100% word in the last verse from yesterday..."The Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him." All means all.
So, I can take every desire, hope and dream to God, along with my trust in His ability and commitment to follow Him, and have perfect faith that He will receive those prayers, actions and desires - and bless them with His perfect love.
I love that God is a God of "ALL".
So comforting.
