I love how I read this verse on the day I decided to be extra grateful for the scriptures.
I find it interesting that clinging to the rod of iron didn't automatically eliminate the mists of darkness, and that the rod, once firmly grasped, didn't immediately teleport them to the fruit of the tree.
They had to press through the mist of darkness, BY clinging to the rod, and not letting go. THEN- they arrived at the tree and were invited to eat the fruit.
What does this mean? (Even Lehi had to go through darkness before he got to the tree.)
Is clinging to the word of God HOW we partake of the Atonement of Christ? We have to do it, before we receive it. Makes sense.
Also, why are Christ (the Tree) and the fruit (blessings of partaking of His Atonement) separate? Can you come unto Christ, look at Him, and not eat?
April- don't do that. Eat the fruit.
