7 Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.
I'm still a little confused on why the land is blessed or cursed according to our righteousness?
Why isn't the land neutral and just the people blessed?
The possible answer I keep coming to is that the land directly blesses the people. It provides for us - food, shelter, warmth, beauty. It blesses us. And if nature is "cursed," we feel it. Land that is blessed directly blesses people. So the blessing IS the blessing. Wait, does that even make sense? Uh....
I guess that makes sense, although I feel like I still have a lot to learn about why when God blesses people, He prospers them in THE LAND.
What is it about land?
I love scriptural food to chew on.
Yummy.
