22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces; and her time is near to come, and her day shall not be prolonged. For I will destroy her speedily; yea, for I will be merciful unto my people, but the wicked shall perish.

I looked up several words in this chapter: "roe" (still doesn't make sense) "medes" (that makes sense) "doleful" (makes perfect sense).

But these last verses bring even more questions. Dragons? I know what the dictionary says they are but is that what Isaiah meant? Or did they mean something else back then? If not, then.... huh???

(And "chased roe"???)

BUT! The last 2 lines tie the whole chapter together beautifully. "For I will be merciful unto my people, but the wicked shall perish."

I love these verses, especially this part: "they (the Lord's hosts) come from a far country, from the end of heaven." (!)

The Lord is mustering His hosts!
