2 Nephi 3:23

23 Wherefore, because of this covenant thou art blessed; for thy seed shall not be destroyed, for they shall hearken unto the words of the book.

I don't know who the posterity of Joseph (Lehi's son) is, or how they survived the great battle?

I wonder? What am I missing?

And Joseph Smith is this Joseph's direct descendant? Huh!

Here's something I do know - two of my favorite scripture words/phrases are in this verse! "Because of" and "covenant".

The "because of" provides me with a connection between a cause and an effect - or better yet, a behavior and a resulting promise of God.

And "covenant" might be my favorite word in scripture, because I feel so safe when I think of it. God's promises are sure.

And they include me.

So comforting.
