14 And I, Nephi, did take the sword of Laban, and after the manner of it did make many swords, lest by any means the people who were now called Lamanites should come upon us and destroy us; for I knew their hatred towards me and my children and those who were called my people.

Laman and Lemuel also hated Nephi's children?

That must have made it easier to leave!

How far did they go? And why didn't Laman and Lemuel (answered in v34) come after them? (They "stole" the plates and Liahona in Laman and Lemuel's mind.)

Did Laman and Lemuel know they were now called Lamanites? (And would be known as that forever?) Did they call themselves that eventually? What was their life like? How did they behave (answer in v24) when the object of their anger was gone?

I still believe they were good at heart. How could they not be? I really think they were good kids who behaved badly. Very, very badly. It hurts my mother heart to contemplate those boys and the choices they decided to make.

How does God handle all of this?

Oh yeah - Christ. :)
