3 And this is the manner after which they were ordained—being called and prepared from the foundation of the world according to the foreknowledge of God, on account of their exceeding faith and good works; in the first place being left to choose good or evil; therefore they having chosen good, and exercising exceedingly great faith, are called with a holy calling, yea, with that holy calling which was prepared with, and according to, a preparatory redemption for such.
I love this evidence and testimony of our lives and prior to being born!
This verse is a priceless treasure of scripture. There is so much, deep doctrine, to learn and ponder in this verse.
I think I'll do that today. I'll ponder "the first place," "foreknowledge of God," "ordained," "left to choose," "evil" (in the 'first place') "exercising great faith" (then) "good works"(then).
The rest is hard for my brain to understand. But I'll read them a few times and give it a go.
I guess in our premortal existence we also had to exercise faith in Jesus Christ before He was born and died for us. But what is "a preparatory redemption"?
A good question for God.
(Maybe the word "which" can be replaced with "who"??)
Thinking.
No. I don't think that's right because of the next verse. -It's definitely referring to the holy calling.
Reading, and pondering, on....
