24 And it came to pass that the king was pacified towards his people; and he said unto them: Let us go forth to meet my people, without arms; and I swear unto you with an oath that my people shall not slay thy people.
I can't describe how much love how Lehi and the Lamanite King used the the word 'oath' in this chapter.
They seem to have so much integrity, honesty and character because of their determination to keep their promises and deception seems so far from their hearts.
These two enemies, who are fighting to kill each other, seem almost friendly. It seems they have a respect and trust in the oath because they made promises.
I wish we, the world, (and hopefully myself) considered promises as binding as these two did.
I have always tried to save my promises for the temple (God) and my husband - only. I am very hesitant to ever make any other promises, on the slim chance that I might not be able to keep it. I make very few promises- but I keep those I make.
I will try to be like these great examples of integrity and honor.
