27 But Alma went forth and stood among them, and exhorted them that they should not be frightened, but that they should remember the Lord their God and he would deliver them.

Alma told the people that, even in the face of war, suffering and imminent death, they should not be scared. And in order to not be scared, they should remember Jesus Christ (who hadn't even come yet) and trust God.

Then he would deliver them.

Their trust must not have been placed in the outcome- or the delivering- but in the Deliverer, despite the outcome.

Alma didn't say, "trust that God will deliver you." He said, "Remember (and trust) God. Period. And He will deliver you.

Alma's faith in God was evident and strong. He knew that if everyone looked up to God, instead of out to their enemies, that that faith would produce miracles.

So- what am I scared of? Today I will remember Christ (who has come and did atone for me) and trust Him. I will trust that God will make everything okay in the end.
