Mosiah 23:5

5 And they pitched their tents, and began to till the ground, and began to build buildings; yea, they were industrious, and did labor exceedingly.

Why is it that hard work (or industry) in the scriptures, is associated with happiness and blessings and laziness is associated with wickedness and a lack of blessings?


What is it about work that helps us to be happy?


When people are lazy (or me), it seems to be out of a desire for immediate pleasure and a desire for maybe a selfish comfort? Where a working person may be sacrificing comfort and pleasure for a greater, future reward?


So, maybe happiness is tied to sacrifice? Or delayed gratification?


Hmm, I'm not sure.


But it's something along those lines I think?


SO importantly ponderable.
