7 And thus the Lamanites began to increase in riches, and began to trade one with another and wax great, and began to be a cunning and a wise people, as to the wisdom of the world, yea, a very cunning people, delighting in all manner of wickedness and plunder, except it were among their own brethren.
I'm wondering about these Lamanites who knew not God and who were living in wickedness, how they were seemingly prospering in the land.
Do I think that that blessing (prospering in the land) is exclusive only to the righteous? What about the righteous poor? What would happen if riches and prosperity only occurred according to one's level of commandment keeping? Then there would likely be much judging and self-righteousness. I'm thinking we would come to depend more upon our OWN good words, than on Jesus Christ's.
I'm glad the Lord lets some struggle financially and the wicked to be rich, so that we (I) learn to rely on God in all circumstances, and especially - despite all circumstances.
I think what I'm really most curious about is- what is the full meaning of 'prosper in the land'?
Much to ponder.
