1 And now it came to pass that the persecutions which were inflicted on the church by the unbelievers became so great that the church began to murmur, and complain to their leaders concerning the matter; and they did complain to Alma. And Alma laid the case before their king, Mosiah. And Mosiah consulted with his priests.
"Concerning the matter" is all over the Book of Mormon.
I wonder if it was the personal way Mormon spoke, or if it was the typical language of the day.
I wonder if these 'great persecutions' which were inflicted on the church were led by Alma's son, and King Mosiah's sons? I think it is probable.
If so, then this talk between Alma and Mosiah was probably a lot more personal than it was business like. They were probably talking as fathers, not as much as leaders. And what- how awful- must that have been - for the complaints to you and the suffering of the people that were caused by your son. Not to mention the heartache of a wayward child.
I could think about these stories for days.
Maybe that's the point.
