22 And he caused that the priests should assemble themselves together; and they began to fast, and to pray to the Lord their God that he would open the mouth of Alma, that he might speak, and also that his limbs might receive their strength—that the eyes of the people might be opened to see and know of the goodness and glory of God.
Okay now this is interesting to me.
I think my tendency would be to let God continue to have His way, and to wait until He saw fit to open His mouth. I don't know if I would even think to pray for his mouth to be opened.
Oh! Maybe they prayed, that IF it was God's will that Alma could speak- SO THAT he (Alma Jr.) could testify and share his experience and his change of heart with the people.
OH YEAH! I just had to keep reading to the end of the verse! "THAT the eyes of the people might be opened to see and know of the goodness and glory of God." That's beautiful.
Today (as I write this) is fast Sunday. What can this teach me about my fast? I am fasting for my children, and to give thanks. Maybe I should think about expanding the desires for my children to those whose lives they may change and influence for the better.
That seems good.
