23 And it came to pass after they had fasted and prayed for the space of two days and two nights, the limbs of Alma received their strength, and he stood up and began to speak unto them, bidding them to be of good comfort.

That's a long time to fast. Did they plan to fast for that long? Or was it indefinite until Alma was healed? Did they take turns fasting? Is that a thing?


I love that Alma 'rose on the morning of the 3rd day' like Christ did. Was he a similitude of the Savior?


I feel like this experience is the climax and purpose of the entire Book of Mormon (such a beautiful example of how Christ is my, your, and EVERYone's Savior!) so I wouldn't be surprised if he is.


I'll have to watch for that symbolism as I go.
