Question, in this verse, 'wealth' seems to be part of God's blessing and prospering. Is this always true? I don't quite understand that because I've known some very righteous, very poor people.
I'll pray to understand this better. (Or maybe 'wealth' here was unattached? Just their next natural phase?)
I just learned the most beautiful thing about this online (church website) "Some would say the Lord helps those who help themselves, but Jacob (in Jacob 2) seems to say that the Lord helps those who help others! This places wealth and education in a different light. We are placing ourselves in a better position to gain the Lord's approval when we use wealth and education to serve others. Then we don't use them as weapons to separate ourselves, but tools to lift others."
I think I just learned that the giving of what you have IS the blessing (which the Lord provides.) I become more because of the sharing. My heart becomes a little more charitable. So the giving is the blessing. (The person receiving it is blessed too- but I am changed.)
That's why God gives us commandments, to help us change (become) better and better.
He can give people money if He wants to, but He invites us to share what we have, so we can become, ultimately, like Him. -> The Greatest Giver.
(All of this insight from pondering verse 7 all day.)
So grateful.
