38 Therefore they relinquished their desires for a king, and became exceedingly anxious that every man should have an equal chance throughout all the land; yea, and every man expressed a willingness to answer for his own sins.
"They relinquished their desires for a king." I don't think wanting a king was wrong or bad per se. It was comfortable, common, and normal. They likely hadn't even thought about thinking about not having a king. But Mosiah did. And they were all "enlightened” by the simple beauty and goodness of his plan.
I wonder what I'm doing, that I don't even think about not doing (or vice versa) that, if I did, the new would cause me to think, "Why didn't I think of this before? It's so clean, simple and obvious. But I was blinded by convivence, comfort or tradition."
I'll pray for enlightenment today. And I'll pray for help in identifying what I should "Relinquish my desires for."
